- Review commercial and residential plans and plats for compliance with City, County, State, and Federal standards and ordinances. Establish addresses per City grid systems.
- Review commercial and residential plans for runoff and flood control design and calculate flood control impact fees.
Review proposed public improvements and establish bonding requirements.
- Confirm viability of engineering design of wet and dry utilities, rights-of-way, accessibility, and traffic flow.
- Attend preliminary plan review meetings to advise and resolve issues regarding developments within City limits.
- Inspect all residential and commercial development projects for compliance with approved construction plans and all applicable laws and ordinances. Enforce safety measures on the job site.
- Provide confirmation material testing and compaction tests.
- Assist with pre-construction meetings for new development projects.
- Advise the City regarding proper bonding requirements and approve the release of bonds after inspection and acceptance of constructed improvements.
Detailed Engineering DesignBack to Top
- Provide feasibility analyses and master planning as needed at project conception.
- Utilize in-house GPS survey to establish horizontal and vertical control.
- Produce detail design of all capital projects including roads and highways, storm water collection and retention facilities, and water, sewer, and natural gas facilities.
- Act as a water resource consultant in locating and producing municipal supply.
Administrative ServicesBack to Top
- Schedule City inspections and dispatch inspectors.
- Provide various services including correspondence and record keeping.
- Ensure that site addressing meets applicable ordinances and standards. Conduct research and complete affidavits to correct address errors where necessary.
- Interface with County, State, and Federal agencies regarding engineering and public development considerations.
- Provide an interface for City officials with residents on technical matters.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)Back to Top
- Establish/Develop City-wide GIS coverage and base mapping.
- Provide data maintenance and update services as requested by the City within the City’s GIS.
- Include new data and zoning changes for the City’s GIS.
- Conduct GIS and ArcView training for City staff as requested by the City.
Construction Contract AdministrationBack to Top
- Offer start to finish administration of the construction project including:
- Advertise for bids.
- Conduct bid openings.
- Recommend award of bids.
- Provide full time resident construction inspection and documentation.
- Make recommendations on partial pay requests.
- Administer and minimize construction change orders.
- Provide project closeout services and produce as-built drawings.
Miscellaneous Engineering ServicesBack to Top
- Act as a technical resource to the City and its boards and committees.
- Recommend ordinances and amendments to ordinances regarding City infrastructure for City approval.
- Participate in City cabinet meetings and development and planning meetings on a periodic basis or as requested.
- Perform other technical services as needed or requested by the City.
- Prepare engineer’s estimates for cost of construction for various projects as requested by the city.
- Develop and/or revise transportation standards and perform transportation planning.
- Propose revisions to subdivision standards.
- Provide general services as required by Licensed Professional Engineers.
