The Cities of Willard and Perry both found themselves in need of wastewater system upgrades. The Willard City wastewater system consisted of individual septic tanks. Perry City needed upgrades to its Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Sunrise coordinated with both Cities to assist with the master planning and design of these upgrades. Sunrise worked with the Cities and the State to come to agreement on the direction of the project as well as the approvals needed in order to proceed. Along with the treatment plant sited in Willard, Sunrise also designed a collection trunkline that will connect Perry’s wastewater system to the new treatment plant. We performed a complete City-wide wastewater design for Willard to upgrade from the existing septic systems to a wastewater pipeline collection system.
The project’s treatment plant upgrades consisted of a 2.0 MGD Integrated Fixed Film & Activated Sludge IFAS treatment facility. The heart of the facility, which keeps everything on beat, was the design of a 4500 gpm (maximum discharge) pump station. Sunrise worked with WesTech to design the IFAS & Clarifiers of this project.
All aspects of the design embraced the master plan build-out design of the facility. Approval processes for this equipment were followed at both State and City Council levels. Sunrise was successful in obtaining grants and low interest loans to fund this highly successful project. It will serve the wastewater treatment needs of Perry and Willard Cities for many years to come.
