Lewiston Dam Hydroelectric Upgrade

Overview

The Trinity Public Utilities District (TPUD) and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) intend to boost the power generating capacity at the Lewiston Dam from the existing 350kw to approximately 1.2mw. This upgrade will not only allow for better control of the flow from the dam to the river, but also provide an increase in revenue from power generation.

Hydroelectric Design & Consultation

Sunrise Engineering was selected to optimize the power generating capacity while also attending to important Trinity River fisheries issues. The Sunrise team will perform pre-design studies, evaluate impact to the environment through NEPA studies, develop design plans and specifications, and perform construction supervision and testing in full compliance with the USBR requirements. The design effort will involve geotechnical, hydraulics, powerhouse, and electrical and controls components. Additionally, any potential for impact to existing fisheries will be evaluated by the experts with Symbiotics, Inc. and resolved through engineering design effort.
