Gunlock, Utah, a small community near St. George, planned to repair and restore their damaged culinary water system. In 2006, the Gunlock Special Service District contracted Sunrise Engineering, Inc. to design and construct the necessary culinary water improvements for the area. These improvements included the protection of drinking water facilities from potential damage caused by flooding of the Santa Clara River.
Funding acquisition was necessary through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Utah Drinking Water Board.
Sunrise managed the design and construction of a 200,000 gallon reinforced concrete culinary water storage tank and over 5,000 linear feet of culinary water pipe with associated service connections and appurtenances.
Pipe and valve materials were purchased separately by the client in an effort to save overhead expenses and to comply with funding requirements. This effort was also managed and coordinated by Sunrise as part of the design and construction process.
As part of the CDBG application process, an environmental analysis was accomplished by Sunrise in the format required by that agency.
