Costco Wholesale Warehouse Site Design

Client NeedsBack to Top

Costco Wholesale and Mulvanny G2 Architecture planned to redevelop an existing commercial site in South Ogden, Utah for the construction of a new 135,000 square foot Costco Warehouse and gas station. Based on their long standing relationship, they contracted Sunrise Engineering, Inc. to prepare preliminary engineering and improvement plans.

Existing ConditionsBack to Top

This 13.6 acre commercial site contained a 1960’s built K-Mart and Strip Mall that were in drastic need of renovation. Demolition of the existing buildings, drainage design and earthwork were required to allow for the development of the new Costco store.

Grading Design Back to Top

9,500 sq ft of retaining walls were designed on the south and east sides of the project to meet Costco’s grading requirement of less than 2% slope. Significant earth moving was required in order to fit the proposed building and parking field on the site.

Drainage Design Back to Top

Over 2,700 lineal feet of pipe was required ranging in size from 12 to 24 inches to allow for adequate storm drainage for the new parking lot. Along with the drainage system, Sunrise also designed the culinary water and wastewater systems which necessitated over 1,000 feet of both 8 inch water and sewer lines.
