Sunrise was responsible for many aspects in the design and construction management of the W&M Butterfield Park in Herriman City, Utah. This park was to have multiple facilities and activities all included into one large area, reflecting the diverse interests of the residents in the community.
Sunrise designed the site in conjunction with the city planning committee to include an area for a future rodeo arena as well as a space for Herriman City public service and maintenance buildings. The park also included the design of parking lots, a playground area, baseball and soccer fields, and a pavilion.
Herriman City sits on the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountain range. For this reason much of the park site was sloped. Sunrise designed a tiered site for the park, incorporating retaining walls and stair cases into the different areas of the park.
Parking areas and access roads were designed, including all drainage and storm water systems.
As with many parks, the W&M Butterfield Park required restroom and concession facilities. Sunrise provided design for these facilities at the main pavilion area, as well as the playground and baseball areas.
The baseball park included restroom and concession facilities centered in a 4 field baseball complex. These fields included spectator bleachers as well as backstop fencing.
Single table picnic coverings were located throughout the park. Many of these were located around the playground area. Sunrise provided site design through coordination with the playground manufacturer.
The canopy of the Rosecrest Pavilion is a manufactured steel structure designed by an independent corporation. Sunrise Engineering designed the concessions facility with restrooms and a performance stage located beneath the pavilion.
The many landscaped areas required a low maintenance, dependable irrigation system. Sunrise managed and coordinated the irrigation design for the park through a sub-consultant.
Sunrise designed the utility extensions to serve all the facilities in the park. These included culinary water, wastewater, and storm drainage.
A significant portion of the project was completed using the services of multiple contractors who donated portions of their work to the City for this project. Through the construction management process Sunrise worked with these generous contractors to organize and schedule their work. W&M Butterfield Park is fully functional and is being enjoyed by families in the community as well as athletic groups and civic organizations.
